Everything's Coming Up Milhouse

All I can say is that it's about freaking time stuff started going better for us.

The dogs are doing better. Our plan to split Ozzie's meds between the two dogs worked fine, and neither has had any issues since last weekend. Just one of the joys of being a pet owner, I suppose. On the plus side, we dropped our pet insurance and got Wellness plans for the dogs, so Ozzie's vet visit was only $60 instead of $140. His follow-up on Saturday was free! Mirabelle goes in tomorrow for a routine vaccination, which I think will also be covered. Already the Wellness plan has saved us more money than our insurance ever did.

We had the Subaru towed to the shop on Friday morning and have yet to hear about it. I suppose it'll take a couple days for the car to be fixed, and I'm hoping it is done soon. However, I don't know when we're going to have time to go pick it up. I may have to take Angela to pick it up some morning, whenever it is ready to go. Once we get it back it'll be time to get the Beetle ready to sell... I want to get a quote to have the front bumper fixed, and it needs a good deep cleaning (which I should be able to do with my new Bissell! Yes, I'm still nerding out about it). A friend of mine expressed some interest in buying it, but failing that I may just put it on Craig's List and be done with it. I'm looking forward to getting rid of the car payment and insurance on it, that's for sure. And now that I have my RTD pass from school I can ride the buses and light rail for free, so other than the longer commutes it'll be easy to get around without a car.

Classes start in about a week, and I'm really excited and nervous. As I mentioned last time it's a bit scary to think that the entirety of our future hinges on my success in Marketing and I don't know if I'll feel good about any of this till I get into the semester and start learning and figuring out where my niche is in all this. I just need to get one textbook so far, so as soon as I get my excess I'll have to order it. I did get my notebooks today and got some pens from Angela for Christmas, so I should be set soon.

This is my last week of PT, and I'm still a little skeptical about it as I'm still having some back pain. I did buy a fitness ball yesterday so I can do some of my exercises on my own. On Friday, at our last session, we're going to set up a home fitness regiment, which I'm excited about. I'm still planning to go back to yoga soon, but I want to build up my core strength first. Hopefully the last remainder of pain will subside as I do more exercises at home, and I just hope that it won't require surgery down the road. I'll need to get new orthotics eventually, and yesterday my therapist explained what to look for in a good shoe, so the next time I need to get shoes I'll know what to get. I've got to get back into my diet (it's suffered so painfully since August, as we haven't had the money to buy fresh fruits and veggies and live mainly off what we have in the apartment) so hopefully that with the home exercise routine and yoga will help me drop these last 12 lbs I'm hanging onto.

By far the most exciting news is that we are FINALLY moving out of our tiny one-bedroom and into a larger condo. We're gaining about 150 sq ft and a second bedroom/office space. It's not exactly what we were looking for, and it's not in exactly the location we were looking at, but it's
going to be pretty much perfect. It's a 15 minute bus ride to the light rail station and in a very quiet, well-kept area of southern Aurora. The condo itself is updated and open, with a washer and dryer! But potentially the best part of the whole deal is the landlord(s). We met them this weekend when we looked at the place, and they are incredibly down to earth and friendly. They are first time landlords, so they are a little tentative, and we told them that we'd be very easy first tenants - heck, we're an old married couple!

Now we get to cram all our belongings into boxes again and get ready to move for the third time in 3 and a half years... joy. But it'll be worth it to be in a nicer neighborhood. Last week a car was stolen from our current parking lot (the spot next to ours!) and this morning another car was broken into! We're so ready to get out of here and have a bigger space. All I can hope is that this rental experience is better than the last two we've had. We've always had awful neighbors and bad landlords, so fingers are crossed. I think it is going to be a great place for us.

Despite my work schedule being non-existent this week (one shift at ON and one shift at BBW, plus two days at the convention center) we are doing alright. My excess check from school should hit this week so we can pay for Matt's car repairs and our security deposit on the new place. Then we just have to hope that we get a security deposit back on this place and that I can sell my car in the next month or so. Then it'll be a matter of sticking to our budget and getting settled in our new place.
